Nothing's For Nothing.

When did clients develop the ill informed belief that viral/social smash hits are fast and cheap to produce and distribute? We get it. You have no cash, but still need something buzz worthy that leverages community and gets a whole bunch of new fans and sells a lot of stuff. Well guess what? I haven’t got any cash either. That’s why I don’t barge into the Grand Central Oyster Bar demanding the New England Clam Chowder for a buck. You want to be the proud owner of the next “Subservient Chicken”, “Elf yourself”, “Evian Baby Roller Skating” or “Monk-E-mail”? Cough up, because those ideas along with all the other viral genius you keep referencing from Forbes’ “best social ideas of all time” are from major companies with deep pockets. This list should be read by every client (and advertising person for that matter) sitting up late at night with no resources or time, dreaming of their social smash. Keep dreaming.
