What the fuck?! Have you noticed that something like ninety percent of all the movies now playing are about vampires or zombies (or the lovechild of both)? Yesterday, my wife and I tried to catch a movie and our choice was limited to 12 shitty, generic horror flicks or watching Meryl Streep have it off with Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin (another horror film of sorts). What the hell is going on? Is this a reflection of the current fucked up state of the country, or the equally fucked up state of peoples’ minds? Or perhaps this is a thinly veiled ploy where movie industry folks flood the cinemas with enough garbage so that average films are elevated to Oscar-nominee status by sheer comparison. This is a technique ad folks are all too familiar with i.e. if you want the client to choose a particular headline yet are required to provide additional options, simply add two horrible headlines to the mix and voila—the less shitty headline is the winner. Either way, can somebody please make a film I’d like to see?
