Why is Quiznos under the impression that people actually like their commercials? You know, the ones with the horrible singing cats? I smell some Crispin BK envy, but unlike the early BK work (remember Big Buckin Chicken?) there’s no irony here, just contrived weirdness and a futile attempt at being amusing. Its not that I dislike cats. I just consider them to be self-absorbed, unlovable, razor-sharp-claw yielding, spiteful, hissing, forever genital grooming, unpredictable vermin. Other than that, they’re O.K I guess, but still, the site of a cat unexpectedly popping its head out of a sub makes me think that Mittens just used the sandwich as her personal litter box. Either way, I would have thought that the first iteration of this crap would have been enough to euthanize this direction and start over, but obviously Quiznos felt differently. They’ve just released a couple of new spots and have even started an online contest asking folks for their own homemade versions. One thing is certain: The user-generated videos can't be any worse than the unappetizing garbage that's running now.While Quiznos allows their sandwiches to be used as makeshift cat shelters, I’ll be eating fresh.
